MOUNTAIN GETAWAY WITH FRIENDS

We enjoyed a few days last week with our friends, the Martins in Breckenridge. We snowboard; skied at A-Basin, Breck, and Keystone. I have to say that we all enjoyed Keystone as the lines were minimal. The weather was great! It felt like spring skiing. However, we continue to pray for more snow as there are not many runs open on the mountains so it tends to get congested with everyone coming down at the same time. Poor Jake, gets a little overwhelmed with the teenagers whizing by. It's amazing we haven't had more crashes. We stayed at an unbelievable home in Breck with awesome views of the mountains. We played farkel(dice game) and watched Kong Fu Panda, David and the boys made a snowman out front, Suzanne made dinners while David made breakfast - all so yummy, poor Tim had aching feet after trying hysterically to get his feet into his boots, while my heated boots were a blessing from above (D), we also managed to go out a couple of nights for dinner and visit the town. And, before I forget - while my heart continued to beat - David did great on the mountains. He did a few small jumps which I wasn't happy about so friends and family feel free to send him an email and give him a hard time! Thanks again Tim, Suzanne, and boys for a great memory! Nicky, we missed you with us! I know you had a great time in California with Vincent and family.

UPDATE ON THE BASEMENT

David traveled last week and sent me some flowers..:) I took the outer trim off the garage when getting his big _ _ s truck out of the garage. :( He was so sweet when I told him; he just wanted to be sure we were alright. He is my gem! Now, he needs to fix before the snow comes. He is also doing a great job on the basement. Here are a few pictures of the tiling in the bathroom and the window seat he built over the weekend. I'm still painting..ha. The folks we ordered our cabinets from had to re-do one of the cabinets as the measurements were off when trying to put in the microwave in the drawer. So, because of this delay we have to wait on the installation of the granite. We also had to pick another counter for the bathroom as the original one we selected was out of stock. We went down to the store and picked a really nice stone that has all the colors of the mountains throughout. We are very excited as things are all coming together. Cross our fingers by Spring that it will all be said and done.

JAKE'S VISIT TO THE ORTHO DENTIST

Here is a little picture of Jake's mouth. He'll go back in 9 months to see the development of his new teeth making their way in. He was quite friendly and excited to be in the office. I don't understand why..lol. Because his teeth are so tight together, we wanted to be sure he wasn't going to have any difficulities early on.

NICK'S 12TH BIRTHDAY!!

Thank you to everyone who remembered Nick's birthday! I can't believe he is now officially 12. He will be bigger than me come next year. He had a great weekend! His buddy, Mason slept over Friday night and came back again Saturday for his party. A few other boys from class came to enjoy the festivities at Mr. Biggs. They played lazer tag, putt putt, some kind of robot game, a twister ride and the ball pit. The boys sure can eat! They ate at Mr. Biggs and then at home later in the evening. I think they were trying to set some kind of record by staying up until 5am. I was asleep while David kept an eye on them..:) I'm too old for parties. I'm hoping this is the last one..ha ha. We took the boys to a pumpkin patch but unfortunately it was pretty smelly. Couldn't find one pumpkin that wasn't falling apart. We'll try again next weekend at another farm. We took the boys to a mexican place called Casa Bonita which was quite interesting. It was like being in a underground cave; extremely big with a haunted house, and games to play. They also put on a little show where the actors did some cliff diving into a big pool.

JAKE'S BIRTHDAY WEEKEND!

A couple of shots of Jake at his party. He had lots of fun! He also had his first flagfootball game. He just loves football. I still think he is going to ask me to play the real game next year...ugh!

The weekend was fun and tiring. We took the boys up to Shaw Pass - just pass Echo Mountain for a really nice hike. I always forget to bring a sweater when up in the mountains as it was a little chilly. We took the blanket up with us and had a picnic off the mountain eating Subway..yum...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAKE!!

Our little Jake will be 7 tomorrow - September 6th. He is so excited for tomorrow to come. We are going to pick up Nicky tonight at the airport. It will be nice that he can spend the day tomorrow with his brother. We will be celebrating his birthday at Color Me Mine. Jake loves to paint, draw, etc. It will be a football theme as we are all getting pumped up for the Broncos to begin the season. Thanks pop for the gift - we'll give it to him on his birthday. :) Here are some pictures of our time together while he was on school break. They go back to school next week. Yippeeeee.

WEATHER IS CHANGING

A couple of weeks ago we were having dinner with some friends and noticed a couple of funnels forming. They have an awesome view of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. It seems that we had quite a few tornadoes touch down in Parker. Kids were running around excited and ready to depart to the basement in the event it came any closer. I never knew that Parker got tornadoes. We had to put some cardboard on my car so that the golf ball like hail didn't damage the roof. Here is another couple of shots after the storm pasted.

TIME FLYING BY......

We are busy with the basement and the tile/stone has arrived. I have a few blisters and taking a couple days to let them heal and then back to painting. David worked in the bathroom to put in the drain for the shower this past weekend. Don't ask me how but he fell back into the hole and bruised himself up pretty bad. I'm still scratching my head..ha.

The boys have finished baseball for the season and are getting ready to enjoy another break from school. Since they are all year round, they will be off at the start of August 14th with a few weeks off. Jake is doing well with his reading and really likes his new teacher, Mrs. Rousey. Nick had a couple of tests today - let's cross our fingers that the studying paid off. David spent a few hours with him reviewing his math..:)..last night. Jake will be playing flag football towards the end of August. It's a little less painful for me to watch. He still wants to join the 'real' football but I'm afraid that he will get hurt. We will see how things go this year.

The weather is finally cooling off! I think after August we will really be looking forward to the snow season..:)

The End of July 2008

We had a great storm last week and Nick was taking some pictures in our backyard. We could actually see three rainbows - one on top of each other - very cool! The boys have been enjoying a little time at the pool after school. It's been pretty hot and we are ALL looking forward to the cooler weather and yes, I will say it - bring on some snow..ha! We are busy with the basement and painting has begun. David picking up the tile/stone this weekend and will begin the task of starting the bathroom and around the bar area. Can't wait for it to be done and to invite our friends over. And, of course, family members are always welcome - even you Stephen..:)
